Do you know? Kebumen city has many beautiful views and delicious food, but in this section I want to tell you about one of the beautiful views at Kebumen city, that is Menganti beach. Let’s read and imagine it! :)

Menganti beach is a beautiful beach that I saw when I was on picnic with my friends. The place is very beautiful. The rolling wave of Menganti beach is not very big but it is nice to see and ke many photos in there.

The location of this beach was 7 km from Ayah beach. The ways to arriving there is very difficult because the road is narrow and has many curves, just walking or riding by motor cycle we can get there. But if you want to try your adrenalin, you can get there with arriving your cars. Wow!

I have some pictures of this place that I took when the first time I went there. Let’s see it! :)

What about your opinion about those pictures? The views like in the beach on Bali Island, isn’t it? But the location isn’t on Bali but it is on Kebumen city. If you want to picnic with your friends or your family just come in with your vehicle from Kebumen city and you can feel the true of my picture.

SUWUK BEACH

One of the most famous tourism objects in Puring is Suwuk Beach. Most people in Kebumen have already known about the beauty of the beach. Unspoiled natural conditions, surounded by mountainous scenery, and there is a mini zoo complete the beauty of the beache.

The beach is not too steep (still rolling). The access to the coast which is currently very good makes the beache is excellent to be visited. The beach is very crowded when vacation time comes, mainly visited by young people.

Even when the Lebaran day comes, starting from the first day, suwuk has already visited by many visitors. Location of the coastal road has already been marked, so it is easy for the first-time visitors to visit the beach.

From Kebumen, go towards to Petanahan, and then continue to Puring, continue westward to Tambakmulyo village. If we start from Gombong, walk to south direction pass Kuwarasan, then Puring, and select the access road to Tambakmulyo village, or if we start from West Gombong, select the route through the Buayan district, continue straight to south direction and we can arrive at Suwuk.

One problem we may face is about the transportation which does not exist. However, most visitors visit the beach by using their own vehicles, usually a motorcycle. Parking locations are also widely available and safe, so don’t worry about the security of your vehicle. We must buy a ticket to enter he beach. The ticket price is about Rp5.000 when it is a hollyday. If it is an ordinary day, we can enter without any pay or free.

One more interesting info for you, if your motor bike is damaged, a garage is also already available.The Garage is about 100 metres from Tambak Mulyo Elementary School which is close to Suwuk Village Gate. On the gate is writen “Suwuk Desa Wisata.”

Lawet : The Icon of Kebumen

The icon of Kebumen Regency is Lawet bird. Commonly, we can find this kind of bird inside the cave in the seashore, especially in Karang Bolong. But now, we can find it in the town because many people build a great building for breeding this bird. So, what’s for? Do you know, they want to get a big profit from this bird by selling its saliva. What a valuable bird it is!! As an icon, of course, we can see Lawet’s picture in the seal of Kebumen Regency. Besides that, in the cross-road among Pahlawan Street, A.Yani Street, Pemuda Street, and Kusuma Street, there is a monument called “tugu Lawet”. This monument describes about the harvesting of Lawet’s saliva.
Lawet bird also became an inspiration for Sardjoko, Sardjono, Rabimin, and Sruwono, to create a special dance of Kebumen, named “tari Lawet”. Tari Lawet tells us about the behaviour of Lawet bird in Karang Bolong cave. It’s about the detail of how Lawet bird flies, how Lawet bird sharpens its bill, how Lawet bird makes its nest, e.t.c.. The music of Lawet dance is named “gending Lawet aneba” which is the form of “lancaran laras pelog patet barang”. What’s that??Lawet dance has its own costume which is made just like the real Lawet bird. The basic color of Lawet bird’s fur is black with a little of white-colored fur on its chest. The costum of Lawet dance consists of wings, shirt, pants, Jamang (in the form of gold-colored Lawet bird), necklace, uncal, belt, rampek, sonder, and binggel. What a complicated costum it is!!
About ten years ago, every student in elementary school is able to dance this Lawet dance because Lawet dance is introduced to children to make them know about their culture. But now, elementary school students aren’t taught to be able in this dance anymore. I don’t know why, but if this still happens, the next generation will not know about this dance.

Kebumen's Batik

Batik and Javanese are something that can’t take separate. For years, the producing of Batik is known from Pekalongan, Yogya, and Solo. But, there is a place which has making Batik tradition like Kebumen Regency, Jawa Tengah. The centres of Batik producing in Kebumen are Jemur, Seliling, and Tanuraksan village.

Kebumen’s Batik was found in the beginning of XIX century and was brought from people of Jogjakarta. At first, the people of Jogjakarta aimed to spread Islam’s influence in Kebumen. The leader of the Islamic spreading was Penghulu Nusjaf. This person was expanding Batik in Kebumen.

At the beginning of XX century, the making of Batik’s pattern is used turmeric (Curcuma Domestica). The pattern of Kebumen’s Batik are tree and bird pattern.

The use of import chemical in Kebumen was known in 1920. The use of import chemical was to economize the money. In 1930, was introduced the use of stamp from copper.

The name of Kebumen’s Batik are Jagatan Jagatan, Jagatan Biron, Jagatan Pisang Bali, Lapisan Tumpal Kupatan Latar Jagad Buntal Latar Jagatan Orange Latar Kawung Jenggot, Latar Kopi Pecah, and so many more.

Kebumen’s Batik is so unique and attracts attention of people who love Batik in Indonesia. Even, Batik of Kebumen is expanded abroad lately. But, Kebumen’s Batik had got a very hard time in 2004 when the amount of consumers was very low. But now, Kebumen’s Batik tries to go up to make as level as Pekalongan, Yogya, and Solo’s Batik.

VISITING NUSAKAMBANGAN (Christian Activities in Senior High School One Cilacap)

Hello,…… I one of student in Senior High School One Cilacap. My name is Dessy Juwita Sari. I grade XI SCIENCE 4,,, I will tell you about one of activity in my school, especially for Christian student.
Yesterday April 18,2010… The Christian student had an activity for celebrated Happy Easter….
They went to Nusakambangan Island for celebrated the Easter with prisoners.
They departed with ship from Wijayapura until Sodong. And then continuedthe travel in the land until Lapas Kembang Kuning and did religion activity with prisoners.

After finishing that activity they went to Permisan Beach that beautiful beach. The sand was white and that beach direct border with Hindia Ocean that caused the wave was little big. Then they played a seawater and photos.

They came back to Cilacap by ship again and they
had a beautiful memories about a lot of activity in the Nusakambangan and Permisan beach that never forgot with them.
And here we want give you a lesson about we must share happiness with all of people even to people that ever done mistake.

Menjer Lake

Menjer Lake
It is the widest dan the biggest natural lake in Wonosobo regency. The lake lies about 1,300 metres above sea level with 70 ha area space and the depth of the water is 45 metres. Menjer lake is situated in village of Maron, Garung subdistrict, about 12 kilometres to the north of Wonosobo town.
The invironment is very beautiful, and the weather is cool. You can rent boat if ou want to see the beauty of it.
Sometimes it's also used as camp area for students.
Menjer Lake is one of Wonosobo Pride.

Agro Tourism Tambi Tea Plantation

Formerly, in the time of Dutch government in 1885 Tambi estate company was a Dutch company, named bagelan Thee & kina Maatschappij with the domicile at Netherland. In Indonesia the company was managed by NV John Peet, with the domicile at Jakarta. When the freedom revolution of Indonesia exploded the company was taken over by the government Republic of Indonesia. It's workers were appointed as government estate workers. After the round table conference in 1950 the company was returned back to the previous owner the Bagelen Thee & Kina maatschappij. Then in 1954 the company was sold by the owner to NV Ex PPN Sindoro Sumbing, a company built by The Ex Employees of Government's Estate mentioned above. In 1957 this NV Ex PPN sindoro Sumbing cooperating with the Local Government of Wonosobo build a new company named NV Tambi and now the name is PT Perkebunan Tambi. PT Perkebunan Tambi is in the early step to enlarge the beautiful and naturally potention of tea plantation as a tourism resort with the name : Agro Wisata Perkebunan Teh Tambi.
The company consists of 3 estates which is Tambi estate, Bedakah estate, and Tanjungsari estate with black tea as a main product. Total area 829.14 ha to yield between 1,800 - 2,000 ton per annum. The location precisely at the west slope of Sindoro & Sumbing mountains at the middle of Central Java. Situated 16 km northward of Wonosobbo with mild climate of 16 to 26 oC. Altitude 800 - 2,000 m above sea level, with rainfall 2,500 - 3,500 mm per annum.
Staying for a few days in the resort you will see the black tea process ed, the surrounding area carpeted with tea bushes where tea pluckers are working gaily, and enjoying a nice drink with a local meal. The other famous escursion resort nearest are Menjer lake, Dieng plateau, and the forest camping ground Jlumprit.
