Kebumen’s Batik was found in the beginning of XIX century and was brought from people of Jogjakarta. At first, the people of Jogjakarta aimed to spread Islam’s influence in Kebumen. The leader of the Islamic spreading was Penghulu Nusjaf. This person was expanding Batik in Kebumen.
At the beginning of XX century, the making of Batik’s pattern is used turmeric (Curcuma Domestica). The pattern of Kebumen’s Batik are tree and bird pattern.
The use of import chemical in Kebumen was known in 1920. The use of import chemical was to economize the money. In 1930, was introduced the use of stamp from copper.
The name of Kebumen’s Batik are Jagatan Jagatan, Jagatan Biron, Jagatan Pisang Bali, Lapisan Tumpal Kupatan Latar Jagad Buntal Latar Jagatan Orange Latar Kawung Jenggot, Latar Kopi Pecah, and so many more.
Kebumen’s Batik is so unique and attracts attention of people who love Batik in Indonesia. Even, Batik of Kebumen is expanded abroad lately. But, Kebumen’s Batik had got a very hard time in 2004 when the amount of consumers was very low. But now, Kebumen’s Batik tries to go up to make as level as Pekalongan, Yogya, and Solo’s Batik.

That I know, the kinds of batik in Indonesia is only batik jogja, pekalongan, and solo. in fact, there is also a batik Kebumen which have unique and beautiful motive.

Actually Kebumen's Batik isn't so famous like other, but at least we use it as daily clothes of civil servant.
