More than two third of century of Nusakambangan Island is claimed as "forbidden" island. Noone is allowed to enter.The common people who wish to visit this island must have entry permit before hand from the Central Java Department of Law in Semarang.
This Island covered is regarded as an attraction instead to attract the tourist to visit the island. Most of tourists come because of their courisity of all activities occur in the area,especially with the "wanted criminal" activities.
The feeling of worry and anxiety axperienced when they were in the island become their unforgetable and can be passed on to relatives and friends who haven't been there.
Beside the main attraction above, it has a very good potential for the tourists. Most of them are historical buildings. One of The Natural Beauty of Nusakambangan is Caves.
There are 2 types of caves in Nusakambangan Island,namely :
1. The Queen's Cave
It is located in the northen slope of a hill, facing north east at a glance, it looks ordinary,but as you go deeper,you will see 'stalagtit' as well 'stalagmit' at the cave's entrance. It has a good legend of Jurang Baas King. It also a very uniqueness, if it's shone,it will reflex a very colorfull color.There are also sounds emitted from rocks when they are beaten.
2. Masigit Cave
Masigitsela, according to some sources is word from "Sela Mosque". It is located in Karanganyar district,or north western og Nusakambangan Island. It is surrounded by mangrove, The inner part of the cave resembles a mosque,completed with the "Imam" facing kiblat. This cave is often used for "Semedi" or "Meditation"
